What is the best workout to tone my lower abs and to get to cuts on the sides?

what worked for me to tone abs is more cardio- that took care of that this layer of fat that prevented my lower abs from completing my six pack.

In addition do leg ups (many variations- look it up in http://www.bodybuilding.com)

also for your sides, i would suggest size bends with light weights-these grow a lot- so don’t overdo them. and crunches with twists help too go to the website mentioned above- they probably have better advice too!! :D

ohh that one is really hard,
For lower, I try to do sit-ups but keep my back straight that way the bottom abs work more. Then for the sides I do sit-ups but face a side so that I use my side muscles instead of my abs.

I’m really not sure if its the best thing to do, but it works.

its real good to do a combination of distance running and various ab exercises: crunches, leg raises, angled crunchs, incline benchs, medicine ball workouts, and any other type of exercise that works that whole core area of your body

Rocky………you need to remember one thing and one thing only………great abs are not built in the gym, they are built in the kitchen.

What on earth do I mean by that? Well it’s all in your diet. You can train your abs all day long with leg lifts, crunches or what have you but if there is a layer of fat covering them then you’ll never notice any difference.

Fat is systemic i.e. we burn it evenly over the whole body. Doing sit ups does not mean we burn fat from our abs…there is no such thing as spot fat reduction. As a result you need to lower your overall body fat percentage. This is done by eatingly healthily and having a workout regime. Your abs are like every other muscle so don’t overtrain then as some people are suggesting.

Try to avoid foods that give you an insulin spike. Insulin leads to fatty deposits around the body. Any thing with sugar in it or other simple carbs are likely to do this. Try and avoid white flour products such as bread, pasta, rice and pastries, instead use the whole grain varieties.

Last tip is to drink lots of water. This will put your body into a more efficient fat burning mode and flush out the sodium deposits under your skin. Trapped water weight (often caused by sub cutaneous sodium) can be mistaken for fat. Drinking lots of water every day will help flush this out to give you that rock hard, cut look you want. It’s not going to happen over night, so be sensible, consistent and patient.
