squats – its a good toning workout for both abs and legs, if you do it properly. If you want some more strain on your abs , go for ab crunches.

swimming is a great workout
and surprisingly it does work out your abs

even doing things like deep water aquasize (I always thought it was for Grandmothers) works you entire body and is a GREAT work out (it is as hard of a work out as you want it to be)

I got bored of the gym and swimming has really improved things :)
